Venezuela Takes Another Step Towards Communism

Recently I wrote about how President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is working on consolidating his power in order to create a Stalinist state. On March 27 the Investors Business Daily posted an article about Chavez's latest step down the road to communism. Chavez has issued an order to seize cattle ranches for collective property. Of course his reasons for seizing the property is to improve the production of cattle. However the article states that this is having the opposite effect. Cattle production in Venezuela is dropping.

This is a familiar story in communist states. When the government seizes property for the good of the whole, the nations productivity drops because there is no incentive to put a lot of effort in producing anything. How many more nations will be devastated before people will realize that socialism is oppressive, inefficient, and leads to poverty.
