Michal Moore's Sick Propoganda

In Michael Moore's latest propagandamentary, he has set his sights on discrediting the American medical system.  His goal is to convince people that socialized medicine is in their best interest.  Moore's political films are a lot like the man on the street interviews seen on news channels.  First he decides what he wants the outcome of the film to be.  Then he goes out searching for people or events that will support his position; all the time ignoring any information to the contrary.  Of course a really good propagandist will throw in a couple of opposing views.  But the opposing views used will be the weakest arguments and they will be poorly presented.  If done right, he will make his film look like an unbiased investigation when the real reason for the film is to manipulate public opinion.

In Moore's latest stunt he started off by flying some New York City Fireman to Cuba for medical treatment.  By doing this, he is playing on peoples anger with the way New York is handling the health issues of firefighters involved in the collapse of the World Trade Center.  Propagandist always play on your emotions.  Especially when the facts don't fit their intended goal.

Lets look at some inconvenient facts about health care in a communist state.  A recent example of health care in a communist state is Fidel Castro.  When Castro's health was in jeopardy, did he use one of his Cuban hospitals?  Did he go to one of his communist allies such as China?  No, he went to Spain to get operated on.

Another fact that should be pointed out is that communist countries have two health care systems.  One is for the peasants.  The other is for the government leaders and national celebrities.  So which hospital do you think the fireman from New York went to?  If you guessed the very best one in the country then you would be correct.  Michael Moore had to arrange this trip with the Cuban government.  Do you really think the Cubans would want them to see anything but the best they had to offer?  You can also bet that the Cubans went to great lengths to make sure the firemen would be impressed by the facilities.  After all, the whole purpose of the trip was to sell  America on  the benefits  of socialized medicine.

Another inconvenient fact is that Michael Moore and his millionaire buddies will never see the inside of a socialized hospital.  Even if our health care system was taken over by the government, Mr. Moore will still be taking his private jet to the Mayo Clinic or whatever exclusive private hospital he chooses.  Like Fidel Castro, Mr. Moore will not have to live with the consequences of his actions.  Why do we listen to these millionaire celebrities who are constantly telling us how to live and what we need to do; while all the time they are doing the exact opposite?

One more inconvenient fact is that the same people who would setup a national health care system have the power to exempt themselves from that plan.  You can guarantee that Congress will make sure that they get the best care possible while the rest of us have to settle with what they decide to give us.  To get an idea of what that may be like, just take a look at Social Security.  A mismanaged and almost broke system where the benefits keep shrinking and the age of retirement keeps increasing.  But if you are a member of the US Congress and you serve for only five years, then at the age of 62 you will be entitled to 80% of your old salary.

So before you agree to give up your freedom to choose your medical care think very carefully.  The people who are trying to convince you to give up this freedom will not have to live with the consequences;  you will.
