Democratic Fund Raiser is a Wanted Fugitive
Early this afternoon I finished an article on Campaign Reform. Later in the day I heard the story of a well known Democratic fundraiser who is a wanted fugitive. The article talks about Norman Hsu who has been raising campaigns funds for well known Democratic candidates since 2004. It appears that Mr. Hsu is a business man with a history of criminal fraud. It makes you wonder why a man like Mr. Hsu would spend so much time and energy in raising campaign funds? It seems very unlikely that he was doing it just out of the goodness of his heart.
This just goes to show us how far both parties are willing to bend to gather the massive funds for elections. Just how many Norman Hsu or Jack Abramoffs are out there raising funds and I am sure peddling influence among political candidates? When are we going to stop pretending that this enormous campaign contributions are anything more than a legal bribe? Both parties are becoming more and more on activists with questionable ethics and practices. And this is not good for any of us.
We need to demand real campaign finance reform. I for one think we should support a system of publicly financed campaigns along with a cap on how much a candidate can spend on an election.
