American Universities Teaching Hatred Not Understanding

Recently, the University of Delaware has come under fire because of a section in the campuses Office of Residence Life Diversity Education Training documents. In this document, the University defines a racist as the following:

"A Racist: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e. people of European descent) living in the United States regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities or acts of discrimination."

Now courses and training on racism have become an important part of American education since the Civil Rights Movement, and rightly so. When I look back on old movies and TV shows from when I was young, I am amazed to see just how racist those shows really were. The only way to change those attitudes which are learned in childhood is to put them out and discuss them. In that process our education system has been successful.

But where our society, especially our educational institutions fail is in acknowledging all the different forms of racism, the seeds of racism, and the fact that our country has come a long way since the 60s in trying to eliminate racism. Since White European culture is the dominate culture in America, all attention has been given to "White racism." This was understandable at one time but that time has passed. Sure there is still white racism in this country. But there is also black racism and you pick the ethnicity racism in this country as well.

Our education systems, if they are to live up to their ideals, need to teach about the source of racism, and show how racism exist around the globe, and how it has existed through history, and other cultures. Only then will you teach people the true nature of racism. Then you can also discuss ways for people to live together in harmony.

Instead, all of the focus of racism is based on White America. Our children are taught that America is the most racist nation in the world. They are also taught that only white people are racist. Both premises are false and any decent half-way intelligent person could do research to prove that it is false. Professional educators will not do that out of fear of the Racist PC Mafia that controls the nations campuses.

Instead of teaching the truth, our educators teach hatred to all White Americans. They tell White Americans that no matter what you do, you are a racist. They perpetuate a feeling of guilt so that White Americans are afraid to speak out against the PC Mafia for fear of being labeled a racist. This is only going to lead to resentment that will increase racial tension and will not serve anyones interest. Except maybe the self-serving professors and political activist that make a living off of racial tension.
