The Bloom is Fading on Chavez's Rose

Hugo Chavez the would be dictator of Venezuela is starting to lose his popularity. Before his national referendum which would have allowed him to run for President indefinitely, Chavez seemed invincible. His popularity among the poor in Venezuela was very high. The government rubber stamped whatever he wanted, he clamped down on the countries media to silence his opponents, and he was gaining popularity in South America.

But now things have started to turn against him. He lost his bid to remain the President, and his social programs are starting to hurt the very Venezuelans that he says he is helping. Government controls on food and goods has led to shortages and a growing black market with prices much higher then they were before he started to, "fix things." In other words, Venezuela is starting to look and feel just like the old Eastern Block countries that he so admired.

I find it interesting that without any type of U.S. sanctions or embargoes, and lots of oil wealth, Venezuela's economy is still going in the tank. The Marxist apologist and Celebrity lemmings cannot blame this one on the U.S.; the way they do to excuse the failure of Cuba's economy. Venezuela is a perfect example of what happens when the government takes control of the economy with no regard for market forces.

Below are a few links showcasing the problems he has created in Venezuela:

BBC News - Venezuelan shoppers face food shortages

The Kansas City Star - Violent crime and food shortages put cloud over Chavez's Venezuela

New York Times - Chavez Threatens to Jail Price Control Violators

One News New Zealand - Venezuelan troops seize food

And just like Mugabe did in Zimbabwe, Chavez's answer is more government control and more communism to fix his mistake; DDC News - Chavez threatens to seize farms.

Unfortunately for Venezuela, they have become a perfect example of what happens when you have a government oligarchy. When you give the government too much control, you get more problems, ill-conceived programs, and more bureaucracy. And what is the governments answer when their programs fail? Yep, more regulations, more taxes, more of the same failed policies. Never in their arrogance, do they consider that maybe the problem lies with their programs. Maybe they made a mistake and are hurting the country.

So is this really what we want in the U.S.? More government, more rules, more laws, more taxes. fewer choices and fewer freedoms? Do you want the freedom to follow your own path in life? To handle your own finances? To decide where you will live, what you can think, and what doctor you go to? Or would you prefer some distant, arrogant, bureaucrat to make your decisions for you? Are you an adult that can take care of yourself or are you a child that needs adult supervision?

Salutations! I know this is kind of off topic however I need a little opinion from an established site. Is it especially challenging to start your individual site? I am not especially techincal but I am able figure things out fairly fast. I'm contemplating starting my very own web publication but I'm unclear about where to begin. I was wondering if you have some tips? With thanks
