On Vices
One thing common in all religions is a set of rules or ideals that members of the religion are expected to live by. The basic "moral" tenants of the religion if you will. But if you take a broad look at these moral tenants, I think you will find that different religions are not so different after all. These rules or guidelines are really a way to teach people how to live together harmoniously. I have put together a quick table to illustrate this point.
The table is based on the Christian tradition of the 10 Commandments and the 7 deadly sins. For a comparison, I have used the 10 Buddhist Nonvirtues according to the book, "How to Practice The Way to a Meaningful Life" by the Dalai Lama. A book I would encourage anyone to read regardless of their religion.
