Today is Tax Freedom Day
It's April 23, American workers have worked almost 1/3 of the year and according to the Tax Foundation; this is the day that the average American will have earned enough money to pay their taxes. Think about it, all of the work that you have done since January 1st has gone to supporting the government and the welfare state. If you live in one of the high tax states like California, New York, or New Jersey, then you will have to work until the end of this month or the beginning of the next to reach your tax freedom day. And if you live in Connecticut, then you are in the highest taxed state for 2008. Congratulations! your tax freedom day will not be until May 8th. Don't you feel good knowing that so much of your hard earned money is going into the pockets of political cronies, corrupt bureaucrats, foreign despots, people who can work but don't, and illegal immigrants?
Wouldn't you like the government to take more of your money? All you have to do is vote Democrat in the upcoming election and who knows, maybe tax freedom day can be pushed back to the end of May or maybe even June. Of course why wait until then? If you feel guilty about all the money you make then just donate it to the government. You don't have to take your deductions, and you can always choose to give the government a gift. They will not mind, after all, government perks are very expensive.
