The Dear Leader Pelosi Turns Off the Lights

Congresses latest session ended without any progress in improving the countries energy needs. Instead, typical partisan politics have prevented anything from getting done. The Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, blocked a vote on expanding off shore oil drilling and moved to end the session and head of to an undeserved vacation. The Republicans protested ending the session without a vote and vowed to stay.

The Dear Leaders response was to turn off the cameras, turn off the mikes, turned off the lights, and had Capital Police try to remove reporters from the building  to prevent the opposition a chance to showcase their protest. In other words, Ms. Pelosi chose to silence the opposition by denying them an audience. A move that is more typical of tyrannical regimes then democratic governments. It is not unusual for the minority party to stay after the Congressional session has ended. It gives them a chance to voice their opposition. The Democrats have conducted similar protests themselves when they were the minority party but the Republicans did not try to silence them. And that is, in my opinion the most important point of this story.

The Democratic party's behavior is acting more and more like a totalitarian regime and less like one that believes in democracy.
