The Rush to the Center

It is common knowledge that in any Presidential election, the candidate that can get the most independent or moderate voters will win. So in every election the candidates play a juggling game of appearing to be a middle of the road moderate while at the same time trying not to alienate their more extreme base. This juggling act is more a problem for Barack Obama then it is for John McCain who has proved through his career that he is very much a moderate.

Barack Obama on the other hand has a record of either avoiding controversial laws by not voting, or of voting way to the left. In January '08 the National Journal proclaimed that Obama was the most liberal senator. Although many pro-Obama media outlets dispute this label one thing is sure. As a Senator, Barack Obama has not crossed party lines on a vote.

On the campaign trail Obama is saying all the right things to his audience of the moment. This has caused some eyebrows to be raised from his earliest supporters who were from the extreme left of the Democratic party. Many of these supporters have been willing to bite their tongue believing that Barack's swing to the center is just campaign politics and not his real intentions. And that is the problem for all of us. Does this young dynamic messiah mean what he says? Seeming to be all things for all people, or is he saying what he has to in order to become President? How can we trust that once in office we don't wake up to find a completely different person than the one that spoke to us during the campaign?

That is why so many moderate and conservative people are looking into his past to find out just who Barack Obama is. A search that is highly criticized by Obama's campaign and supporters. They don't want you to look into his past or his personal life. They want you to just accept what he tells you at face value. But his past is the past of an extreme liberal and not of a moderate. His political values are more aligned with Carl Marx then the Founding Fathers. Just take a look at his plan for change. He proposes a massive increase in the size of government to paid for by the rich and businesses. That isn't anything new. Barack has not come up with a solution that can cure societies ills and prevent our government from go farther into debt without massive increases in taxes. How much different is this to George McGovern's campaign in 1972?

Is Obama's campaign really going to bring a change for the better? Or is it going to be a massive shift to a socialist society that will have an ever increasing roll of needy people who need more and more government benefits?

It is just a generic template from the hosting provider. I modified the graphic at the top and added a hyperlink.  Then added a few widgets on the side.
