In Memory of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn the famous Soviet author died this week. He became famous for his book One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich that was written while he was imprisoned by the Soviet authorities. Solzhenitsyn's work helped to illustrate the brutal repression of the Russian people by their communist government. It is a warning to us all of the dangers of one party rule, and what happens when the government has control over your housing, your job, and the countries industries.
These are lessons that are fading from memory and need to be re-kindled as you see our government drift ever closer to the kind of repressive regime that ran the Soviet Union into the ground. So I hope each of you will take some time to research the life of a brave man who stood up for what is right under the most extreme circumstances.
