Existance Before and After Life
I thought I would take a break from politics while the choir is cheering on their champion and talk about the other taboo, spirituality.
This topic is pretty much for those who believe in life after death. For those who do not want to believe, it will sound like nonsense.
The basic premise for those who believe in the existence of God and spirit is that we all existed in spirit before we were born and after we die, we continue to exist in spirit. So if we existed as a spirit, inhabited a body to experience life in a physical body, and then return to spirit. Why can't we do it more than once? If is possible to do it once, then it would be possible to do it more than once. What would be the difference? It certainly would not be impossible for God to send you back to a new body. And it is possible for a spirit to return to a body that has died. Isn't that what Jesus did when he raised Lazarus from the dead?
So why is it that Western cultures are so uncomfortable with the idea of reincarnation? The reason is that our culture is built around the idea of a single lifetime where you are tested once and then you spend an eternity living with the results of that one life. The idea of reincarnation throws out the whole notion of you only have one life to live. To believe in reincarnation means you have to rethink the basic religious tenants of our culture. That is not an easy thing to do. But just because it is difficult doesn't mean that reincarnation is impossible.

Thought provoking, think that might be what deja vu might be about. The Tibetan buddists believe that if you do not act well in this life you may return as an animal. When the Dali Lama was asked about this he said have you ever met an angry dog? All are interesting ideas.
