Obama, promises you can believe in?
Today the New York Post published a story that Candidate Obama lobbied the Iraqi government to delay an agreement on the drawn down of U.S. troops until after the election. Now one might wonder why Obama, who made the unconditional removal of troops from Iraq a mainstay of his campaign, quietly ask the Iraqis to delay negotiations? Could it be that Obama is afraid of losing some of his thunder if a withdrawal is negotiated before November?
One thing that bothers me, this is not the first time where someone has claimed the Obama is saying one thing on the campaign trail and another behind closed doors. In February, a story came out that Obama's campaign told the Canadian Ambassador that Obama's attacks on NAFTA was just campaign rhetoric. Then there is the famous statement about guns and religion spoken to a group of elitist liberals in San Francisco, and more recently a statement that he will have to put his tax increases on hold due to the state of the economy. So if Obama knows that his tax hikes will hurt the economy, why does he insist on having them?
It sounds like the change that Obama is going to give us is more political double-speak, saying one thing to the populace and another behind closed doors.
