Bush stole the 2000 election.
That is what happened in 2000 and, due to how close the 2008 race is going, it may happen again. Which is why I am writing about old news. If you remember, Al Gore was preparing his speech conceding the election to George Bush. When members of the DNC called and asked him not to concede because they thought they found some problems with the voting. So began the saga of the Florida voting where the Democrats tried everything they could to find that margin of error but were not able to.
So that was the game plan, not to have a recount of the entire state but to eliminate conservative votes by disqualifying absentee ballots and by find liberal votes that may have fell through the cracks. Their first pass got them closer but they couldn't beat the official results, so they counted again and when that wasn't enough, they challenged the markings on the chads. Another thing about punch card ballots is that they tend to be fragile. The more you handle them the more likely a chad will fall out and disqualify the ballot. I have heard from people who have been involved in very close local elections that they were instructed to handle the opponents votes roughly to encourage an extra chad to fall, and to be very careful handling ones that have the results you want. So all of the counting and recounting was only working in the Democrats favor as more and more ballots became damaged.
So why bring it up now? Like I said, this is a close election and I suspect that if Obama loses, you will see all kinds of charges of disenfranchisement of minorities, and the poor. And if the election is close enough, you will see the Democrats once again overturn the official results. I think the Democrats have no regard to how such acts can undermine the peoples confidence in the government and are only concerned with the accumulation of power.
