Chavez - Another lesson in Socialism
Hugo Chavez continues to be a classic lesson on the failed policies of Socialism and how socialist work to take over and bankrupt a country. An article by the Associated Press shows another failed program by the hero of the Hollywood Left.
When Chavez came into power, his first target was to nationalize the nations oil. He did this by taking of oil fields that until then were being managed by the worlds largest oil companies. These companies, were making a decent profit from these oil fields. The fields were being managed for the benefit of all and Venezuela was making decent income from their resources. Then came Chavez and his national movement.
Now the equipment is falling apart, production is down, the state oil company has more employees then they need and the oil company now is running different social programs that have nothing to do with exploring or extracting oil. Sounds like a typical government program. Think of the broke Social Security system where programs have gone beyond just retirement benefits, or the state of California, or Welfare, or the current Wall Street bail out.
Bureaucracies around the world are all the same. They may mean well...at first but usually become blinded by their own ego. Hugo Chavez may truly be concerned about the welfare of poor Venezuelans, or maybe he dreams of a greater Venezuela ruling South America and challenging the evil Americans on the World stage (more likely), or maybe he is just basking in his personal power. Whatever his motivation is, the shortsighted dictates of his socialist government are ruining the life blood of the country and could eventually hurt the very people he professes to help.
