During George W. Bush's term as President, the Liberals were always screaming about Bush being a threat to democracy. Their willing accomplices in the main stream media, dutifully reported their lamentation. But President Obama has signed an order with much farther reaching implications than George Bush.

Obama has signed an order placing the Census Bureau under control of the White House. In case you don't know the Census Bureau is responsible for the national census that occurs every 10 years and coincidentally will be next year. This census helps to define population centers across America. This in turn determines how many representatives a state gets in Congress. It is also used to determine the geographic location of voters, and income levels. This data is then used to draw up Congressional boundaries that can have a lasting affect on just who winds elections.

But that is not all the data that is collected. The Census Bureau also collects economic data that is used in planning and the redistribution of wealth. Now normally the Census Bureau has been a rather independent agency, and usually the only complaints that they get is from special interest groups that are looking for a bigger place at the government trough. Now along comes Obama and his desire to control the Census Bureau from the White House.

This will introduce a political element into the collection of data. And as everyone knows. The person who collects the data, will look to skew it to their favor. This can have a big impact on Federal aide, and in determining who controls Congress. In my opinion this is a much larger danger to democracy then George Bush. Not to mention the affect it will have on who gets to collect from Obama's massive government spending plan.
