Democrats considering how to silence conservative radio?

Well it didn't take long for the ghost of the fairness doctrine to raise it's disfigured head. Senator Tom Harkin discussed the "need" for the fairness doctrine a.k.a. government censorship recently on the Bill Press show.

The interesting thing is that the fairness doctrine applies to radio, and may be extended to cable media outlets, but does nothing to demand "fairness" in print journalism or the three main networks. Why? Because the liberal viewpoint already dominates the newspapers and the big three networks. The national voice for conservatives has been pushed into talk radio and Foxnews on cable TV. Just where the Democrats want to legislate "fairness."

The first thing you should remember is that when anyone uses the term fair or fairness, you should watch out. The second thing to know is that when a government official uses the term fair or fairness, you are about to be taken to the cleaners. There are many more places in this nation where the liberal voice is heard over the conservative voice. Academia, entertainment, newspapers, radio, Internet, and broadcast television. Legislating talk radio is just another in a long list of power grabs by the Left.
