Remembering Walter Cronkite
In reading and watching about the life of Walter Cronkite, I wonder; is there anyone in journalism today that the American people trust? What would Walter Cronkite think of the state of news reporting in America today?
I found one answer in an article by Jane Hall for FoxNews where Mr Cronkite was quoted, "In terms of production values 'The CBS Evening News' is far better than what we did," he said. "But the scope of coverage is extremely limited. With all this dolling up and featuring of the news, it's getter harder and harder just to get the facts of the story. I worry that we're not getting enough of the news that we need to make informed judgments as citizens."
Is there any main stream journalist out there with the clout and integrity to report the news in a bipartisan way? Is there any news organization out there that is giving us enough of the news so we can make an informed decision? Sadly, I don't think there is. The only way to really stay on top of what is going on is to check multiple news sources and blogs
Unfortunately most people don't have the time or inclination to do that.
And that plays right into the hands of the political powers who are busily pushing their own agenda.
