Republicans have gained a lot of momentum with the recent town hall meeting protests over the Democrats health care plan. But that is not enough. The Democrats are rallying behind President Obama and their counter offensive is being felt.

The Republicans need to take this momentum they have and go on the offensive with a plan of their own. Everyone knows that the medical care system is broken and needs to be fixed so just supporting the status quo is a losing strategy. Republicans need a plan to reduce costs, increase competition, prevent insurance companies from conducting business as usual, and work on reducing the cost of prescription drugs. Which means that they are going to have to do things that their friends in theinsurance and pharmaceutical companies will not like.

There are things that can be done to fix the system and the Republicans need to create that plan and start shouting it from the rooftops. It does no good to bring up amendments to the current bills because the Democrats control the committees and they can silence anything they don't like. I am sure there are many ideas that Republicans have floated that have never seen the light of day. And we know that the Obama News Networks are not going to report on any ideas that could be seen as analternative to Obamacare.

Republicans need to have town hall meetings of their own. They need to finance their own commercials to get the word out. The Republicans need to mobilize and hit the streets to let people know that there are alternatives that don't include Big Brother.

If they don't, their momentum will fade under the onslaught of the Democrats propaganda machine and they will lose a golden opportunity to reshape their party and our health care system.
