Preproduction Chevy Volts hit the road

GM took a small group of pre-production Chevy Volts out on an extended engineering and development drive. The purpose is to test the cars in real world situation and work out any bugs they may find. This is great news. What began has a pretty cool concept car is nearing reality. The first production cars are scheduled for next year! I am really excited about this car. Several reports by people who have driven the early test models say that there isn't a hybrid vehicle out there that can compare with the extended range electric vehicle (EREV) known as the Volt.
For the average commuter, this car will not use a drop of gasoline. And for those weekend trips, the built in generator will give you around 300 miles on a tank of gas or E85 ethanol. For those of you who have ready access to E85, that means you can drive this car all year and hardly use any gas at all. Keep up the work GM! Sorry OPEC...
