Has there ever been a modern President who has tried as hard as Obama to control the media?
All of these attacks on conservative talk radio and Fox News coming from the White House can mean only one thing. President Obama is trying to control the debate on his policies. He does this by elevating the status of such far left media outlets as the Huffington Post and then sending his attack dogs after any conservatives that disagree with him. This administrations actions are a lot more like bulling and censorship than bi-partisanships.
In a "Free Country" where freedom of speech is guaranteed, is it appropriate for a Federal Government agency to publicly ridicule a news organization? Is it appropriate for the White House to actively recruit other news organizations to go after and discredit the organization they don't like? I understand promoting your point of view and trying to sell your ideas to the American people. But don't you think the actions of this administration have gone too far?
You would think that Liberals who claim to be for free speech and individual rights would take pause and be a little concerned when their President behaves in such a dictatorial way. Obama is acting more like a Hugo Chavez than a Thomas Jefferson, or an Abraham Lincoln. Unfortunately with the heated political climate that we have today, partisans on the left and the right are more interested in winning then they are in the Constitution.
How about using less bickering, less bullying and more common sense? How about an open and honest debate on the issues. President Obama, you promised to end partisan bickering. You promised a more open administration not a more paranoid one. You promised bi-partisanship. You would get a lot more trust from the American people if you would stick to these ideals that you professed to believe in. Or are your words just empty campaign slogans?
