Obama's snub of the Berlin Wall anniversary. What does it mean?

November 9th marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. This historic event opened the flood gates for the citizens of East Germany to escape from the iron grip of Communism and eventually led to the reunification of Germany. Germany celebrated the event with the "Festival of Freedom."

Some of the dignitaries attending the event are Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Other famous people will include former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, and the former Solidarity leader of Poland Lech Walesa. But of all the nations that were involved in this historic event only one nation did not send their top leader. Yep that is right, the President of the United States, Barack Obama was too busy to celebrate the end of Communism in Europe and the reunification of one of Americas biggest allies.

Most people might say so what? But in the world of geopolitics, every word, phrase, and action of a government has meaning. So what is President Obama saying? Is he saying that Germany is not as important to him as maybe pleasing the Mullahs of Iran? Maybe he is saying that he prefers the company of avowed communist like Raul Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Manuel Zelaya? Or maybe President Obama and his band of neo-marxist will be having a wake today bemoaning the fall of Communism in Europe.

Unfortunately given the actions of this President to date lead me to believe that he is more sympathetic to dictators than democracies.
