All you need to know about the health care reform summit

I listened to much of President Obama's health care summit today. This summit was billed as a last gasp chance at a bipartisan bill. Most of it was just saying that there is a problem. The Democrats then went on to talk about how the American people are entitled to health care coverage. The Republicans brought out their ideas on how to reduce the cost of medical care. Ideas that have been around for awhile but for some reason President Obama never heard of. Why do I say he never heard of them? Because of his constant insistence that the Republicans never proposed a plan. Well that is just one of the big lies that the Obama administration has been repeating because the Republican plan has been published for quite some time now.

The meeting was moderated by President Obama which gave the Democrats an immediate advantage. But the most important moment came at the end. And this is really all you need to know about this summit. President Obama looked thoughtfully into the camera and then challenged the Republicans to look at his bill and find something that they could agree with so that they would vote for his bill. President Obama did not challenge the Democrats to look at the Republican proposals and incorporate them into the bill. No the only party that was singled out to make a compromise was the Republicans. And that was the plan all along. Not to work out a better solution for the American people but to try and shame the Republicans into falling in line with his agenda.

Once again this points out President Obama's definition of bipartisanship. That is where both parties rubber stamp whatever he wants. Sounds a whole lot like Hugo Chavez to me...
