Yesterday, I was wondering how the main stream media would handle the Discovery Channel hostage crisis where an environmental extremist entered the building with weapons and explosives in order to get the Discovery Channel to change their programming. Obviously, I was wondering if they would handle this the way they handle most media events that concern conservatives. That is I was wondering if they would paint the person as an extremist? Would they say that this person represents the extremistviews within the environmental movement? Would they be shocked by the violent attitudes of environmental extremist? Would they try and connect the person with the Earth Liberation Front and their destructive protests? Or would they play it down has the act of a lone wolf?

How would the main stream media respond to this black eye for their liberal friends? Well today we have the answer and that answer was relatively simple. The main stream media would bury the story and go on to report about other events. Below are screen prints of popular media pages. For most you could not find the story. For some you could find it if you looked for it.

Now MSNBC did have the story on their front page in one of the smaller links. But their story head line was the gunman had starter guns and not real guns. Aha, a way to say maybe he wasn't that violent or maybe we can discuss the polices heavy handed response and not talk about the gunman at all. ABC news also had an article on the event. And if you managed to find it, you would read about the how the gunman was mentally unstable (couldn't you say that about most violent extremist?). So we have two small articles posted in small type but nothing really hard.

Now I do have to give credit to CDS news. They did have their story in their rotating banner and it was pretty matter of fact with no speculation. However they did give a couple of sentences to Daniel Quinn, a person who the gunman sited as an inspiration. They gave Quinn a chance to distance himself from the views of the gunman. I wonder why they do not do that for conservatives. Of course conservatives know only too well the answer to that question. So why am I dragging thistopic out again? We all know that there is a very real media bias at work today.

I am writing this in the case that some independents and moderate liberals may see this and realize that yes, the main stream media does lie to help liberals, and they do cover up issues that would harm liberals. We cannot trust the main stream media to be honest. And of course conservative media outlets are going to bend events to suite their beliefs and their agenda. So caveat lector, let the reader beware. Check different sources from both the left and the right. Then make yourown decision.
