Democrats campaign against Pelosi
Today on Foxnews there is an article titled Endangered House Democrats Campaign Against Pelosi. The article talks about how some Democrats who are endanger of losing their seats are trying to get reelected by distancing themselves from Nancy Pelosi by promising not to support her as the Speaker of the House. So what does this mean? What should we take away from this story?
That the Democrats are in panic mode and are trying anything to get reelected? That Nancy Pelosi is so unpopular that she makes for an easy punching bag? Conservatives will read this article with glee, seeing the extreme liberal Pelosi taking her lumps. Liberals, if there are any open minded enough to read articles posted on Fox, will probably be disgusted out how their party has crumbled in the last year and a half.
But in my opinion the real take away from this article whether liberal or conservative is the last three segments where rebellious politicians talk about being punished for moving away from support of Pelosi. You see both sides will agree that Congress is not relating to our concerns. It doesn't seem to matter if it is Republicans or Democrats. Washington just doesn't seem to listen to the people. They continue doing the same old thing the same old way until election time when they all pretend to be someone they are not.
I think most voters are genuinely frustrated with how tone deaf Washington is. And I like many others wonder why. With 100 Senators and 435 Representatives why is it that Washington for the most part marches in lockstep together? The answer lies in campaign financing and the political power structure. You need millions of dollars to win an election and in almost all cases the person with the biggest war chest wins. Most people unless you are already a well known celebrity just don't have the resources to raise that money.
So they have to go to the party leaders for money. And the party leaders get that money from special interest groups, lobbyist, and billionaire donors. Nothing ever seems to change because the power structure behind the parties doesn''t really change and a rank and file politician will only dare step of the path so far before they are brought back in. The reason why these Democrats are willing to turn against the party leaders is because they are losing their races and are desperately trying to hang onto their cushy elitist job and all the perks that go with it. Win now and beg forgiveness from your masters later.
The only way to really have change is to break up the power structure at the top. Breakup the special interest groups, breakup the lobbyist, push out the billionaire king makers. Then you will have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
