They just don't get it
When the Republicans lost control of Congress, the conservative pundits loudly exclaimed, "we lost because we were not conservative enough!" Remember how damaged the Republican party was? Remember how the media minions and others were speculating about the death of the Republican party? Well here it is in 2010 and the Democrats have suffered one of the biggest political defeats in history. And guess what? The liberal/progressive pundits are saying "we lost because we were not liberal enough!" And now you hear people starting to talk about how can the Democrats survive this huge defeat? It is deja vu on the other side of the coin.
Did the Republicans lose because they were not conservative enough or did they lose because a majority of American voters believed that they were not serving their interest? Was the Democrats recent defeat based on the fact that they were not progressive enough? Or was it that the majority of Americans felt like they were not listening to the voters? The vast majority of voters believe that both parties are more concerned about the special interest money they need for elections than they are about supporting the average American. We believe that it is more about backroom deals, no bid contracts, sweetheart benefits for government unions, free reign for trial lawyers, and those lucritive lobbying jobs then it is about the general welfare.
That is why the Democrats lost and that is why the Republicans will lose again in a few years unless they start to get it. If America is going to fix what is broken, a few sacred cows will need to be sacrificed. Politicians need to make decisions on what is best for the majority and what is best for the future of the country. Not what is best for their pocket book. The party that can do that will win. Until then we will all lose...
