Inside an Obama speech

President Obama is good at delivery prepared speeches. He is an expert campaigner and most of his speeches are of a campaign type. So what can we expect in President Obama's important jobs speech this coming week? In a word, nothing.

You see President Obama's speeches follow a basic formula. Whether he is campaigning or delivery a speech to the nation it makes no difference with this President. In an Obama speech, he starts off by telling us that there is a problem and he is going to address it. We will all nod our heads in agreement. Then he goes down and lists the symptoms of the problem. In this case he will talk about high unemployment numbers, struggling families, businesses too afraid to hire. He will cover the concerns of both the Left and the Right. We will all nod our heads in agreement because in his speech he will touch on the concerns of many different groups in the country. All the better to appear as a moderate.

Then the President will tell us that he is going to fix the problem. He will fix it by reducing unemployment and we will all cheer. He will fix it by helping businesses hire new employees. We will all cheer. He will fix the problem by making America more competitive and we will all jump up in cheer! By the end of the speech, many people will say, "this guy has a plan." Many people will think yes Obama will get us back on track. President Obama's poll numbers will probably spike upward a bit. This is after all the whole point of his jobs speech.

But what you will not hear President Obama say is any real concrete steps that he will pursue to bring his promises to fruition. There will be no real plan, only more political rhetoric. And when the speech is over, President Obama will continue to push his same old tired progressive/socialist agenda on the American people. There will be no compromises with the Republicans. There will be no common sense solutions to our problems. There will only be the same divisive rhetoric that he has used in the past. Leading from behind and blaming everyone else but himself.
