With some GOP candidates sinking and other potential candidates staying out, thoughts turn to Sarah Palin. Will she get in the race? How will it affect the rest of the field if she does? Can she win the nomination? Now for the most part I like Sarah Palin. I think she is a good spokesperson for conservative causes. But I really hope that she does not run. For one thing, I don't think she would win the Republican primary. For another, I would not want her to win the Presidency. Not right now, maybe not ever. But definitely not now!

The main reason is her experience or lack of. The U.S. is dealing with some very serious issues and we need the most experienced, most capable person to lead the country. You need to look no farther than Barack Obama to understand this. A President leads a nation by charisma, and conviction; conviction that comes through life experiences. In many ways I believe that Barack Obama is a victim of his own success. He has the charisma, he has convictions (at times), but he had little to no experience to help him through the worlds most grueling job during an extremely difficult time in our history.

I can't help but wonder how Obama's presidency would be if he was more seasoned, if he had spent time as a governor, or worked in the administration of another President. Maybe a more mature, more experienced Obama would have been a more effective leader. I probably would not be happy with the results of a more effective Obama given his politics. But it would have to be better then what we have now.

Which brings me to Sarah Palin. She has the charisma, she has convictions, she had experience as a governor but she doesn't appear to me to have the whole package. I would like to she Sarah Palin back in government, working for a President maybe. Some role that would give her more Washington experience, more world experience. Then we could decide if she is ready for the worlds toughest job.

But that time is not now. I don't think she is ready. I hope she doesn't try and run this time.
