Bill Clinton should pay more taxes...
November 28, 2011
In an interview last week by Newsmax.com, former President Bill Clinton was discussing his new book. In the interview he reiterated his support for higher taxes on the wealthy. In the interview he supposedly said that he should pay more taxes.
Well my answer to that is pay more taxes. Lead by example. There is no reason Mr. Clinton could not donate 40%, 50%, or even 60% of his income to the federal government. I wonder if Mr. Clinton takes his legally entitled tax deductions each year, or does he choose not to take his deductions so he can pay more taxes? Probably not.
Mr. Clinton could also choose to give up his federal retirement pay and expenses and save the federal government hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. That money could go to helping the less fortunate.
There are a lot of very rich Liberals involved in politics today and if they believe that two working professionals who are not millionaires should pay 39% to 40% of their income to the federal government then they should at the very least be donating that same amount to the government right now. Put your money where your mouth is. Show the rest of the country you care. You don't have to wait for the government to raise taxes. Donate your income today.
