Fast and furious conspiracy theory

Here is some food for those who enjoy conspiracies.  I have no proof, no facts, no insider information, just a thought.  Maybe even a hunch as to the nature of the fast and furious program.

When news about the Fast and Furious program came to light many people were left scratching their heads.  If the purpose of the program was to stop gun runners, then why were they allowing guns to be purchased and shipped to Mexico?  It just didn't seem to make any sense.  Once a person purchased the weapons, why weren't they stopped and arrested?  If the shipments were tracked, why weren't the people receiving them arrested?  And others have added why did the Obama administration use several million dollars of stimulus money to fund this program?

So there are the basic questions, now here comes my wild hunch with no information at all idea for a conspiracy.  Do you remember in the early days of the Obama administration when President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton were going around saying all the violence in Mexico was the fault of the United States?  In March of 2009 Ms. Clinton said, "Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police officers, soldiers and civilians. So, yes, I feel very strongly we have a co-responsibility."  It was later reported that the Obama administration wanted to bring back a ban on automatic weapons.

So here you have an administration, like many liberal administration who is focusing on gun control right from the very beginning.  And one of the first things this administration does is lay the blame for Mexico's violence on our second amendment right to own guns.  After the administrations mea culpa for guns in Mexico was published the debate began about gun control.  Many people pointed out that the U.S. gun purchasing laws were very strict and people who violated those laws would be severely punished.  It was pointed out that many drug cartel weapons were stolen from the Mexican police and soldiers and many more came from the International black market.

But what if the administration could prove that these weapons were coming directly from the U.S.?  What if the administration was able to track the purchases of semi-automatic rifles, and other banned guns right to the doorstep of legitimate American gun dealers?  Could the administration then use this as an excuse to ban guns in the U.S.?  Would such a revelation help the administration to ban and confiscate legally purchased guns?

So that is my conspiracy theory, that the Obama administration wanted U.S. guns to get into Mexico to justify banning them here in the U.S.
