The only people who support the health care reform bill...

The only people who support the health care reform bill are those that have been convinced that the government is going to give themselves something for nothing. The people who oppose the bill know that it's a lie and that we will all pay more because of it. Low income and Welfare recipients will pay for it through fewer jobs, lower wages, a loss of purchasing power due to a weaker dollar, and fewer choices in medical services. The Middle class will pay for it through fewer jobs, lower wages and loss of purchasing power. The ...<< MORE >>

An interesting idea

I have written a lot about how Congress is more beholding to special interest groups and not the people that elect them. I have written about using public financed campaigns to pry special interest money out of Washington. But this web site has come up with another rather unique idea. The site is Goooh.com and it stands for Get Out of Our House. The goal is to replace all 435 members of the House of Representatives with local citizens that are not affiliated with the Democratic or Republican party. In other words, elect local citizens who reflect the values ...<< MORE >>

All you need to know about the health care reform summit

I listened to much of President Obama's health care summit today. This summit was billed as a last gasp chance at a bipartisan bill. Most of it was just saying that there is a problem. The Democrats then went on to talk about how the American people are entitled to health care coverage. The Republicans brought out their ideas on how to reduce the cost of medical care. Ideas that have been around for awhile but for some reason President Obama never heard of. Why do I say he never heard of them? ...<< MORE >>

The political war rages on

]]> The raging political battles that have been going on since the November election would seem to be a smorgasbord for political junkies and partisan organizations. As for me, I am finding it to be exhausting. It seems like everyday there is a new headline, a new controversy, or a new item for socialist and free market proponents ...<< MORE >>

Ronald Reagan speaks out against socialized medicine

An interesting speech given that it is from 50 years ago. But doesn't it seem to ring true today when you look at all the thou shalt... written into the 2900 page monster that the Democrats call the health care reform bill?

Michele Bachmann of U.S. Congress

Michele Bachmann is the real deal. A conservative politician that believes in government reform and controlling spending. Nancy Pelosi has marked her as a person whom the Democrats want to defeat and anyone who stands up to Nancy Pelosi deserves our support. So give Ms. Bachmann your support and lets stop the socialist takeover of our government. Michele Bachmann for U.S. Congress I don't usually do this but Nancy Pelosi has committed a lot of money to defeat Michele Bachmann. Lets try to help her out... Obama's health care plan; the same failed Democratic plan with a proven disaster added...

The Democrats just don't get it. President Obama, and the rest of the far left brain trust just can't help themselves from adding more and more government interference in our lives and in the economy at large. This interference means more over-paid, under productive government bureaucracies, more debt, more taxes, and less money for you the average citizen. Today President Obama posted his new and supposedly improved health care plan. This plan includes every budget busting, government interference, free market killing feature of the hated medical bill that was recently circulated through Congress with a couple of exceptions. The ...<< MORE >>

Remember Tibet?

Remember the world rallying around support for Tibet just before the Chinese Olympics? Have you thought about Tibet since then. Well today President Obama meets with the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government has acted angrily about the meeting. They are trying to threaten and intimidate the US saying that the visit will damage US, Chinese relations. China does not take kindly to anything that may remind the world of the unjustified invasion of Tibet and the brutal suppression of it's people and culture. The Dalai Lama has repeatedly called for a Tibet that would be under Chinese military ...<< MORE >>

Most Americans are angry with the government

There are a lot of people angry with the government. Many times when I am with a group of people talking politics, you can see the normal lines starting to be drawn as liberals start using their talking points and the conservatives pull out theirs. It is usually at this time that the conversation devolves into meaningless babble or maybe even angry shouts. But there is a sure fire way to turn the conversation into something that all parties will agree on. Just throw out the topic of government corruption. Mention that the real problem is lobbyist ...<< MORE >>

I don't think either political faction gets it.

From the Republican meltdown in 2008 to the recent Democratic defeats we have been on a political rollercoaster. What I find interesting and disturbing in the last few years is just how out of touch the countries political factions are. So why am I saying factions and not parties? Isn't this about the Republicans and Democrats? No I don't think so. I think this is about the political powers in the country of which the two political parties are just the outward face of. After the Republicans lost control of the House and the Senate, a debate went on ...<< MORE >>

Republicans should go on the offense

With Scott brown's stunning upset in Massachusetts the Republicans finally have enough clot to become players in the health care debate. Now is the chance to work out a more sensible plan. But to do this the Republicans need to get tough. We know that the Democrats in their arrogance are planning all kinds of political tactics in order to push their monstrosity of a health care reform bill on the public.

To do this the Republicans must act fast. Tomorrow morning they should get on the airwaves and present their ideas of ... << MORE >>

Do you judge people by the color of their skin?

As we celebrate the 80th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther Kings birthday, he was born on the 15th. I am wondering how close we are to seeing his dream come true. Although Dr. King became famous for his lead in the African American Civil Rights Movement, his dream is really a dream for all ethnic/racial groups. The institutionalized discrimination has been outlawed, and people of various ethnics groups have achieved positions of power within our society.

But have we achieved the dream? I don't think so. To really achieve the dream of ethnic/racial equality where all people, "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." That takes an individual to overcome. Government can create all the laws that they want but that does not change the way people think and feel in the privacy of their own homes, sitting with their friends. And it is not just an issue for White people to overcome, every ethnic/racial group has it's own prejudices. Every ethnic/racial group is a victim of negative stereotypes that have been assigned to them by another ethnic/racial group.

To really reach this dream individuals need to think of people as humans first and eliminate categorizing people by their ethnic/racial appearance.

So when you first see a person of a different ethnic/racial makeup from your own, do you see them in light of that group? Or does that thought even enter your head?

Do you measure how tolerant and unbiased you are by counting how many friends of ethnic/racial group A you have, and how many of ethnic/racial group B you have? Or do you count your friends by their character?

When you are alone with a group of people that are of a similar ethnic/racial group as yourself, do you find yourself and your friends making stereotypical jokes about another ethnic/racial group? Do you use derogatory names for that group?

Would you be upset if a relative of yours married someone from a very different ethnic/racial group?

How far along are you to achieving Dr. Kings dream?

Ethnic/racial harmony will only be achieved when individuals stop looking at the world as us versus them and replaces them with just us.

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it..." - Alexis de Tocqueville

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude." - Alexis de Tocqueville
