Republicans should go on the offense

With Scott brown's stunning upset in Massachusetts the Republicans finally have enough clot to become players in the health care debate. Now is the chance to work out a more sensible plan. But to do this the Republicans need to get tough. We know that the Democrats in their arrogance are planning all kinds of political tactics in order to push their monstrosity of a health care reform bill on the public.

To do this the Republicans must act fast. Tomorrow morning they should get on the airwaves and present their ideas of ... << MORE >>

Do you judge people by the color of their skin?

As we celebrate the 80th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther Kings birthday, he was born on the 15th.  I am wondering how close we are to seeing his dream come true.  Although Dr. King became famous for his lead in the African American Civil Rights Movement, his dream is really a dream for all ethnic/racial groups.  The institutionalized discrimination has been outlawed, and people of various ethnics groups have achieved positions of power within our society.

But have we achieved the dream?  I don't think so.  To really achieve the dream of ethnic/racial equality where all people, "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."  That takes an individual to overcome.  Government can create all the laws that they want but that does not change the way people think and feel in the privacy of their own homes, sitting with their friends.  And it is not just an issue for White people to overcome, every ethnic/racial group has it's own prejudices.  Every ethnic/racial group is a victim of negative stereotypes that have been assigned to them by another ethnic/racial group.

To really reach this dream individuals need to think of people as humans first and eliminate categorizing people by their ethnic/racial appearance.

So when you first see a person of a different ethnic/racial makeup from your own, do you see them in light of that group?  Or does that thought even enter your head?

Do you measure how tolerant and unbiased you are by counting how many friends of ethnic/racial group A you have, and how many of ethnic/racial group B you have?  Or do you count your friends by their character?

When you are alone with a group of people that are of a similar ethnic/racial group as yourself, do you find yourself and your friends making stereotypical jokes about another ethnic/racial group?  Do you use derogatory names for that group?

Would you be upset if a relative of yours married someone from a very different ethnic/racial group?

How far along are you to achieving Dr. Kings dream?

Ethnic/racial harmony will only be achieved when individuals stop looking at the world as us versus them and replaces them with just us.

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it..." - Alexis de Tocqueville

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude."  - Alexis de Tocqueville

"Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists." - Carl Marx

Is it any wonder most Conservatives believe that Liberals are hostile to the traditional family? This quote was taken directly from the Communist Manifesto by Carl Marx. His rambling work that is the bible of Communism and today's neo-Marxist we call Progressives. I thought about adding a paragraph or two from the Communist Manifesto that may help to clarify what Marx meant by this statement just to make it clear. But like I said, Marx's rambling manifesto is difficult to follow. The Communist Manifesto reads like the musings of a bitter man who hates the society ...<< MORE >>

Jihadist War Crimes or just Criminals?

With the upcoming trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the recent shootings at Fort Hood, debate once again rises over the threat of Islamic Extremist. Are these an act of war by the Jihadist against the United States? Or are these just violent criminal acts perpetrated by extremist nut jobs? That is a question that has been brewing since at least 9/11. The problem with treating them like criminals is that they will then be able to claim the rights of criminals which are many. For an example all you have to do is look at the mess with ...<< MORE >>

Global Warming Coverup Exposed?

An interesting event has occurred in the rush to enact strict world wide regulations related to green house gases. It appears that a hacker has stolen e-mails from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit who, according to their website is, "widely recognized as one of the world's leading institutions concerned with the study of natural and anthropogenic climate change." What these e-mails show is a concerted attempt by the University's Hadley Climate Research Unit to manipulate data, and silence critics in order to promote the idea that a man-made global warming catastrophe is at hand. ...<< MORE >>

Governments new advice, don't get breast exam until you are 50

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, a government panel of doctors and scientists came out and said that women should not get mammograms until they are 50 and that self exams are useless. The panel determined that such early and frequent screening led to unneeded biopsies and did not provide a significant increase in the odds of survival. The new guideline is more in line with World Health Organizations recommendations. The task force concluded that screening 1,300 women in their 50's to save a life was worth it but screening 1900 women in their 40s to save a ...<< MORE >>

I saw a Chevy Volt

Yesterday I was able to see a Chevy Volt up close. My initial impression was that it looked better in real life than in the photos on the web. I like what I could see of the interior although the instrument displays looked like they were not the actual production displays. Instead it looked more like a preprogrammed demo display. The car looked like the first official Volt that was revealed back in September of '08. The car was roped off so you could not get inside of it. I have to say ...<< MORE >>

No greater experience...

There is no experience greater and more humbling than coming home and seeing the look of your new born baby when they recognize your face. The joy in their face and the way that their eyes light up is a brief glimpse of what unconditional love really is. The realization that you are the most important thing in the world of this young person can make you pause and wonder if you are deserving of such devotion. It is an experience that only a parent knows. And one that can change a life. ...<< MORE >>

Obama's snub of the Berlin Wall anniversary. What does it mean?

November 9th marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. This historic event opened the flood gates for the citizens of East Germany to escape from the iron grip of Communism and eventually led to the reunification of Germany. Germany celebrated the event with the "Festival of Freedom." Some of the dignitaries attending the event are Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Congratulations to ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN

Yesterday, President Obama continued in his attempt to censor Fox News by trying to exclude Fox News from an interview with his pay czar Kenneth Feinberg. But something happened that helps renew my faith in Democracy. The other 4 major TV news networks refused to attend the interview unless Fox News was allowed to attend. Even though the other news outlets tend towards being Obama supporters they realized that such dictatorial censorship is not good for the country and they banded together to protect freedom of the press. So even though I am very critical of the main ...<< MORE >>
