What socialism has wrought

Socialism and the utopian concept of a society that freely shares all with all has been with America since it's foundation. The fact that it was discarded early is a testament to it's inability to overcome the human nature of greed.

Socialism received a huge boost in this country with Franklin Roosevelt's Great Society and has slowly worked it's way into the American body like a cancer that attaches itself to healthy cells and chokes them to death. ...

Fast and furious conspiracy theory

Here is some food for those who enjoy conspiracies. I have no proof, no facts, no insider information, just a thought. Maybe even a hunch as to the nature of the fast and furious program.

When news about the Fast and Furious program came to light many people were left scratching their heads. If the purpose of the program was to stop gun runners, then why were they allowing guns to be purchased and shipped ...

What if there were no political parties.

What if there were no political parties?  What if each elected official only had to answer to the people who elected them?  What if the political leaders were chosen based on their ability to gather a consensus rather than whether they came from a "safe" state or district. What if each elected official had to raise their own campaign money from people who lived within their district and could not get political money from people or organizations ... << MORE >>

Bill Clinton should pay more taxes...

November 28, 2011

In an interview last week by Newsmax.com, former President Bill Clinton was discussing his new book. In the interview he reiterated his support for higher taxes on the wealthy. In the interview he supposedly said that he should pay more taxes.

Well my answer to that is pay more taxes. Lead by example. There is no reason Mr. Clinton could not donate 40%, 50%, or even 60% of his income to the federal government. ...

A big bi-partisan bust

In a recent post I was wondering if politicians will ever gather the courage and integrity to make the hard choices regarding our mounting debt. Today we learn that the much heralded bi-partisan committee for budget reform is busted, just like the Federal checkbook. The politicians were not able to overcome their own dogma or the pressures of the special interest groups that control them.

"A welfare society should not induce people not to work hard." - Jin Liqun

I find it very ironic and sad that America needs to learn from a citizen of Communist China the dangers of a welfare society, and the value of hard work. But a wise person will look for knowledge wherever it is available. It would be good for America to learn from Europe's mistakes so that the Progressives do not tempt us into repeating them.

This quote was taken from an interview by Al Jazeera regarding the possibility of China bailing out Europe. Mr. Liqun the supervising chairman of China's sovereign wealth fund thinks that is a ...

Once the genie is out of the bottle, can it be put back in?

The recent controversy with the Greek bailout and the recent budget battle in Washington makes me wonder if it is even possible to cut back the government once it grows too large. Socialism is all about class warfare. The political elitist use class envy to create controversy and strife. In a democratic society, this technique has worked well to get unscrupulous politicians elected. Once elected, it is a simple thing to keep giving away the public treasury in order to maintain or improve their power.

Obama promises to giveaway more tax-payer money in order to keep his job.

President Obama faces a daunting task. How to get reelected during the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression. Any follower of politics will tell you it's the economy that gets politicians elected. When the economy is good the incumbents breeze back into office. When the economy is in shambles, many incumbents will lose their job. Of all the difficult problems that the Obama administration is dealing with; I can guarantee you that the most important issue is how to get reelected. Everything else pales in comparison. So how does Obama plan to ...<< MORE >>

There is a grain of truth in every big lie

Politicians, political pundits, religious leaders, advertisers, social organizers, special interest groups, do it all the time. They take a truth, spin it to their liking, and then shout it from the rooftops, over, and over, and over again, until we start to believe the lie. Until we finally break down and buy what they are selling. That is the nature of our world and it is very effective. It is that grain of truth that hits home. That grain of truth that you feel is right. That grain of truth that is the ...<< MORE >>

Restoring the Middle-Class

Several years ago Rush Limbaugh had a mantra he liked to use as proof that the U.S. economy was doing very well. His argument was that the economy was doing great because prices were so cheap. Even though, I was and still am a listener of Limbaugh, his assertion never sat well with me. I believe that in truth, those cheap prices were indicators of forces at work that were leading to the decline of our economy. As a worker at the lower end of the wage scale, at that time, I saw a lot of problems related to ...<< MORE >>

The 2012 election is heating up and the Democrats cry racism (again.)

One of my favorite quotes from Thomas Sowell is, "If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago, and a racist today."

It is so true and getting worse. In today's political climate, not only will you be branded a ...

In a perfect world...

In a perfect world Socialism would work the way Progressives envision it should. Everyone would contribute in their own unique way. Sharing would be fair. The government would not use their power of wealth distribution to enrich themselves at the expense of the general population. There would be no government corruption. There would be no black market because all resources would be shared in a fair and appropriate way. People would not shirk work because they know that it doesn't matter to their income whether they work hard or not. Instead they would want to help to ... << MORE >>

Sarah Palin should not run for President

With some GOP candidates sinking and other potential candidates staying out, thoughts turn to Sarah Palin. Will she get in the race? How will it affect the rest of the field if she does? Can she win the nomination? Now for the most part I like Sarah Palin. I think she is a good spokesperson for conservative causes. But I really hope that she does not run. For one thing, I don't think she would win the Republican primary. For another, I would not want her to win the Presidency. ...<< MORE >>
